Henrikh Mkhitaryan may have played the final match of his professional career today. The 37-year-old Armenian midfielder came on for Inter Milan in the final, 38th round of Serie A against Bologna.
The match ended in a high-scoring 3-3 draw. Inter played the game already as Italian champions and ended the season with an entertaining away performance. Mkhitaryan entered the pitch in the 54th minute, replacing Nicolo Barella, and received a yellow card in the 77th minute. According to Sofascore, Mkhitaryan was rated 6.7.
The evening was especially symbolic because the Armenian footballer finished the match wearing the captain’s armband. For Mkhitaryan, this game could prove to be not only his last appearance for Inter, but also the final match of his career.
Henrikh’s contract with the Milan club expires on June 30, 2026. In the near future, he is expected to make a final decision about his future: whether to accept Inter’s offer to extend the agreement or retire from football.
Mkhitaryan has been playing for Inter since 2022. Over four seasons with the Milan giants, he became one of the team’s most experienced and important players, helping the club win six trophies, including two Serie A titles.
If the match against Bologna really was Mkhitaryan’s last career appearance, then the legendary Armenian footballer is ending his journey at the highest level — as part of the Italian champions and wearing the captain’s armband of one of Europe’s strongest clubs.
