The 2025/26 football season is almost over, and it turned out to be a truly successful one for Armenian footballers playing abroad. Several players finished the year with club trophies, while two of them completed a domestic double.
The season was especially bright for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Nair Tiknizyan. Both won the national championship and the domestic cup with their clubs, adding more titles to their personal collections.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan — Serie A champion and Coppa Italia winner
Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan once again finished the season with trophies. The Milan club won the Italian championship and the Coppa Italia, while the Armenian footballer became a two-time Serie A champion.
For Mkhitaryan, this is yet another confirmation of his outstanding career at the top level. Even at the age of 37, he remains an important part of one of Italy’s strongest clubs and continues to win trophies in elite European football. Mkhitaryan’s contract with Inter has already expired, but it may be extended for one more season.

Nair Tiknizyan — domestic double with Red Star Belgrade
Another Armenian footballer who completed a domestic double is defender Nair Tiknizyan. Together with Red Star Belgrade, he became Serbian champion and Serbian Cup winner.
For Tiknizyan, this season was an important stage after his move to the Serbian giant. Red Star once again confirmed its status as the strongest team in the country, while the Armenian footballer added two major trophies to his career. Nair became a national champion for the first time in his career.

Tigran Barseghyan — five-time Slovak champion
Tigran Barseghyan became Slovak champion for the 2025/26 season with Slovan. For the Armenian midfielder, this is already his fifth Slovak league title.
Barseghyan’s career in Slovak football has been truly impressive. He has become one of Slovan’s notable foreign players and regularly plays an important role in the club’s success. Before moving to Slovakia, Tigran had already won the North Macedonian championship and the Kazakhstan Cup.

Lucas Zelarayán — historic title with Belgrano
One of the most beautiful stories of the season is connected with Lucas Zelarayán. As captain, he led Belgrano to victory in the Argentine Apertura 2026.
For the club from Córdoba, this championship was the first in its history, which makes Zelarayán’s success especially significant. The Armenian footballer did not simply win another trophy — he became one of the main symbols of Belgrano’s historic season.
Hayk Musakhanyan won the Belarusian Cup with BATE
The Belarusian championship is still ongoing, but defender Hayk Musakhanyan has already won the Belarusian Cup with BATE.
Artur Gharibian and Arshak Koryan — winners of the Russian First League
Armenian footballers Artur Gharibian and Arshak Koryan became winners of the Russian First League with Rodina. Neither player played a major role in this success, but Koryan was an important rotation player throughout the season, while Gharibian returned from loan in the winter, came on in the closing stages of matches and even scored his debut goal for the team — in the championship-clinching match.
This result was a major achievement for the Moscow club, which reached the top division for the first time in its history.
Sami Farhud Yakubyan — Israeli champion
Footballer of Armenian descent Sami Farhud Yakubyan also finished the season with a league title. His club, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, became champion of Israel.
However, Samir’s role this season was minimal: he played only 5 minutes in one match. Nevertheless, Yakubyan officially became part of the championship-winning squad.
Milan Gharibian may join the list of champions
The list of Armenian footballers with trophies in the 2025/26 season may become even longer. Clermont Foot U19 midfielder Milan Garibyan and his team have reached the final of the French U19 championship.
The final against PSG U19 will take place on June 13. If Clermont win, Gharibian will also finish the season with a league title and will play in the UEFA Youth League next season.
Eduard Spertsyan stopped one step away from trophies
Unfortunately, Armenia national team captain Eduard Spertsyan finished the season without a trophy. The Krasnodar midfielder was close to two major achievements, but in the end his team remained without titles.
In the Russian championship, Krasnodar lost first place in the final two rounds, despite spending a long time in the race for a second consecutive league title. The Russian Cup also ended in disappointment: in the final, Spertsyan’s team lost to Spartak Moscow in a penalty shootout.
Nevertheless, Eduard had a strong season individually. He was once again one of Krasnodar’s leaders and equaled the Russian Premier League record for assists in a single season with 16.
A successful season for Armenian footballers abroad
The 2025/26 season became one of the most successful for Armenian footballers playing in foreign leagues. Mkhitaryan and Tiknizyan completed domestic doubles, Barseghyan continued his dominance in Slovakia, Zelarayán entered Belgrano history, and several other players won national trophies and championships.
Unfortunately, three of the players on this list are former Armenian national team players. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Tigran Barseghyan, and Lukas Zelarayan have already retired from the national team, but they still continue to perform successfully for their clubs.
