Armenian fighter Arman Tsarukyan successfully made weight at the official weigh-in ahead of UFC 331, where he is set to face Brazilian Mauricio Ruffy in a five-round bout.
Tsarukyan weighed in at 70.7 kg (156 pounds). His opponent came in slightly lighter at 70.3 kg (155 pounds). Both fighters therefore successfully made the lightweight limit and are cleared for their upcoming bout.
For non-title UFC fights at lightweight, fighters are allowed to weigh up to 156 pounds, meaning Tsarukyan used the maximum permitted allowance.
The Tsarukyan vs. Ruffy fight will serve as the co-main event of UFC 331 and is scheduled for five rounds. The event will take place on September 19 in Los Angeles at Crypto.com Arena. UFC officially lists the bout between the Armenian and Brazilian fighters as the co-main event of the card.
Tsarukyan enters the fight with an MMA record of 23 wins and 3 losses, including 10 victories in 12 UFC appearances. Ruffy holds a professional record of 14 wins and 2 losses and has won five of his six fights in the UFC.
The bout carries significant implications for the lightweight title picture. Tsarukyan is ranked No. 2 in the UFC lightweight rankings, while Ruffy sits at No. 7. The winner will strengthen his position among the leading contenders for a future title fight.
The UFC 331 main event will feature a flyweight title rematch between champion Joshua Van and former long-reigning titleholder Alexandre Pantoja.
