On October 16, in the Serbian city of Novi Sad, the 2025 World Grappling Championship for adult men and women concluded in the Grappling Gi and Grappling No-Gi disciplines. Athletes from dozens of countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas took part in the event.
Team Armenia won three medals — one silver and two bronze. This is a respectable result, considering the high level of competition.
The absolute triumph of the championship was the Russian national team, which confidently took first place in the overall medal standings by the number of gold medals. Teams from Poland, Spain, France, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Moldova also distinguished themselves.
Particular attention was drawn to Alexander Romanov (Moldova) — a former UFC fighter and current PFL athlete. He won gold in No-Gi (130 kg) and bronze in Gi (130 kg), becoming the most high-profile participant of the world championship.
