Finn Geragusian, the 18-year-old forward of the Armenia national team, has received individual recognition at the end of the season within the English club Sunderland’s system. The striker was named Player of the Season for the club’s U21 team.
For Geragusian, this was an intense and important season in terms of development. Despite injuries that forced him to miss both the opening part of the campaign and the final stretch, the Armenian forward managed to make a strong impression in several competitions for Sunderland’s youth teams.
For Sunderland U21, Finn featured in four different competitions. In Premier League 2, he recorded 11 appearances, 3 goals and 2 assists. In the Premier League Cup, he played 5 matches, scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist. His team reached the final of the tournament, where they lost 2-1 to Burnley, but Geragusian was unable to take part in the decisive match because of injury.
In addition, the forward made 2 appearances in the National League Cup and 1 appearance in the Premier League International Cup. During the season, Geragusian also played for Sunderland’s U18 team. In total, he finished the campaign with 13 goals and 3 assists in 29 matches across all competitions.
The season was important for the young footballer not only at club level. Geragusian was included in Sunderland’s first-team squad for FA Cup matches, although he did not make an appearance. He also received his first call-up to the senior Armenia national team and made his debut in a friendly match against Belarus.
Being named Sunderland U21 Player of the Season confirmed Geragusian’s progress and his growing role within the English club’s system. For the 18-year-old striker, this season can be considered one of the key stages at the beginning of his professional career. This summer, he will become a free agent and will be able to choose which club to sign his first professional contract with. There is significant interest in him, while Sunderland themselves also want to keep the physically strong forward within the club’s system.
