Krasnodar captain and Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan took part in a game during an interview, where he was asked to choose the best Armenian footballer in the history of Russian football.
In the first round, Spertsyan had to choose between defender Nair Tiknizyan and forward Edgar Sevikyan. Eduard preferred Tiknizyan, noting that he had played more matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL).
Then, the midfielder compared other well-known Armenian players:
-
Lokomotiv defender Tiknizyan, in his opinion, is stronger than Aras Ozbilis but falls short of Marcos Pizzelli.
-
Former Krasnodar playmaker Pizzelli was better than Roman Berezovsky but lost in comparison to Edgar Manucharyan.
-
Between Manucharyan and Khoren Bayramyan, Spertsyan chose the latter.
In the final round, two players remained: Spertsyan himself and forward Yura Movsisyan. Eduard confidently named Movsisyan the best Armenian footballer in the history of Russian football.
"Yura is a top-tier striker. When I was a kid, I used to pass him the balls and admired his game," explained the Krasnodar captain.
Finally, Spertsyan was given the ultimate choice: Movsisyan or Henrikh Mkhitaryan? This time, Eduard chose Mkhitaryan, recognizing him as the greatest Armenian footballer in history.
