UEFA Development Cup kicks off in Yerevan: Armenia U15 lose to Uzbekistan on penalties

The UEFA Development Cup for U14 and U15 youth national teams has kicked off in Yerevan. The tournament matches are being played at the FFA Technical Centre/Football Academy.
On the opening matchday, Armenia U15, made up of players born in 2011, faced Uzbekistan. The match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Uzbekistan took the lead in the 41st minute, four minutes before half-time, through Roman Aizatullov. In the second half, Narek Davtyan’s team managed to equalize: in the 64th minute, Kuban academy graduate Marat Yegayan scored for Armenia.
The winner was decided in a penalty shootout, where Uzbekistan proved more accurate and won 4-3.

In another match of the day, Moldova U15 also defeated Georgia in a penalty shootout. Regular time ended 1-1, while Moldova won the shootout 3-2.
Armenia U14 also played their first match of the tournament. Arman Arakelyan’s team suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against Latvia. The only goal of the match was scored by Artemy Izotov.
