A meeting was held at the Olympic Committee of Armenia with the participation of sports federation representatives, renowned athletes, and public figures. The event focused on the social responsibility of the sports community and the development of an inclusive sporting environment in the country.
The key topics of discussion included the fight against drug addiction and the creation of proper training conditions for athletes with disabilities and health limitations. During the meeting, two major programs aimed at addressing these issues were officially introduced.
The initiative titled “Sporting World for a Healthy Generation” has already united thousands of athletes across the country. Its goal is to prevent youth drug addiction and promote a healthy lifestyle through the authority of sport and the personal example of celebrated athletes.
Photos shared by the President of the Armenian Olympic Committee, Gagik Tsarukyan, show that the event was attended by prominent Armenian athletes: Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling champion Artur Aleksanyan, world champion Malkhas Amoyan, world weightlifting champion Varazdat Lalayan, and former renowned weightlifter Hripsime Khurshudyan. Representatives from both Olympic and non-Olympic sport federations were also present.
Participants emphasized that uniting the sports community around social issues is a vital step for the country's future. They noted that Armenia needs a healthy generation—both for strengthening national security and for maintaining high international prestige in sports.
Special attention was given to creating full-fledged training conditions for injured athletes and persons with disabilities. The new programs are expected to expand opportunities for sports participation, rehabilitation, and integration of these athletes into active sports life.
