A ceremonial presentation of the future football academy of Turin’s Juventus took place near the Hrazdan Stadium in Yerevan. The academy will be built as part of a large-scale project aimed at developing youth football in Armenia.
The event was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Football Federation of Armenia Armen Melikbekyan, highlighting the national significance of the initiative.
To take part in the ceremony, World and European Champion, Juventus legend, and FIFA ambassador David Trezeguet arrived in Yerevan, along with the club’s International Academies Coordinator Davide Fornaca. In his speech, Trezeguet expressed confidence that the project will help nurture a new generation of professional footballers and become an important contribution to the development of football culture in Armenia.
During the presentation, architectural and infrastructural plans for the future complex were showcased. The academy will include modern training fields, educational and medical facilities, and a multifunctional stadium that meets UEFA’s second-category requirements.
The groundbreaking has already taken place, and construction is effectively underway. The academy is being established under a franchise model: the project is being implemented by the Armenian company Next Gen Sports, which has received the right to use the Juventus brand under strict adherence to its methodologies and training standards.
According to Albert Abrahamyan, director of the Armenian Juventus Academy, similar centers are planned in other regions of the country in the future.
The project envisions the involvement of European coaches, cooperation with football agents, and entry into the international market. Revenue is expected to be generated through the development and future transfers of academy graduates to foreign clubs.
The academy will be partially free - up to 100 of the most talented children, selected by Italian coaches, will be able to study for free. Social support programs are also envisaged. A hostel-hotel for visiting students will be opened at the academy, and conditions will be created for accommodating foreign teams. The best students will be able to undergo an internship at the main Juventus academy in Turin and participate in international tournaments.
