Edgar Sevikyan featured in the Matchday 6 fixture of Spain’s Segunda División between Ceuta and Valladolid. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Armenia international midfielder started for Ceuta and spent around 70 minutes on the pitch. However, Sevikyan’s substitution was not a tactical decision.

According to local media reports, the Armenian footballer felt pain in the 70th minute, forcing the coaching staff to replace him. It is currently unclear whether Sevikyan has suffered an actual injury and how serious the possible problem might be. This was the Armenian’s second appearance for his new club.

During his time on the pitch, the 25-year-old registered one shot, made one key pass and completed two of his seven dribbling attempts. SofaScore gave him a rating of 6.5.

The situation is attracting additional attention ahead of Armenia’s upcoming international fixtures. Following the match against Valladolid, Sevikyan is expected to join the national team, which is preparing for its September UEFA Nations League matches against Latvia and Montenegro. His participation in the training camp will now depend on his condition.

If the injury proves serious, Armenia head coach Yeghishe Melikyan could face significant squad problems. Vahan Bichakhchyan, another right winger, is already injured, while Narek Grigoryan is lacking regular playing time. That would leave Artur Serobyan as the only remaining option in that position for the next four matches.

It should also be noted that Spain’s Segunda División does not pause during the international window. Due to his call-up to the Armenia national team, Sevikyan is expected to miss Ceuta’s next two matches.

The situation has already caused some dissatisfaction in the Spanish media, which pointed out that the club will be without one of its players because of international duty while the Segunda División season continues.
