Tomas Adoryan, a footballer for the Argentine club Banfield, is currently with the Armenia national team and preparing for his first matches for the squad. On June 6, Armenia will face Kosovo, and on June 9, Montenegro.
Ahead of these matches, the 23-year-old midfielder gave an interview to the Football Federation of Armenia's press service.
— I was born in a small but very beautiful town called San Pedro in Argentina. I’ve played football since early childhood. In 2017, I moved to Buenos Aires and joined Banfield, though I wasn’t yet part of the first team. Later, I moved to the Uruguayan club Rampla Juniors, where I spent a year and a half. The team was in the second division at first, but we got promoted to the top league, where I gained valuable playing time. When I returned to Banfield, I was given a chance to prove myself in the starting lineup.
— The call-up to the Armenia national team was communicated to me by Banfield officials. I was incredibly happy. This is a big step in my career. We will try to win as many matches as possible to bring joy to the Armenian fans. Being here is a dream come true. I’ll do everything I can to help the team.
— In the upcoming matches, it will be a great joy to get playing time and get to know my national teammates better. I think everything will go well. I don’t speak Armenian yet.
— My teammate Edgar Sevikyan, with whom I share a room, is trying to teach me Armenian words. But so far I have only remembered "Bari or" (good day).
