The Armenian delegation received a warm welcome in Tashkent. The team was welcomed by Rustam Assakalov, head coach of Uzbekistan’s Greco-Roman wrestling national team.
Assakalov praised the high level of the Armenian team that arrived in Uzbekistan, highlighting in particular that Armenia is led by Armen Babalaryan, who was named Europe’s best coach of 2025.
The training camp includes both members of Armenia’s U23 team and several wrestlers from the senior national team.
The U23 wrestlers are preparing for the U23 World Championships, which will take place in Las Vegas from October 12 to 18. Members of the senior national team are continuing their preparations for the 2026 World Championships, scheduled to be held in Astana from October 24 to November 1.
Footage published from the training camp shows senior Armenian national team members Slavik Galstyan and Gaspar Terteryan. They are joined in Tashkent by U23 team representatives Samvel Terteryan, Aramais Harutyunyan and other Armenian wrestlers.
The joint training camp in Uzbekistan will be one of the key stages of preparation for Armenian athletes ahead of the major international tournaments this autumn.
