Colombian striker Jhon Córdoba found himself in the spotlight after the match against CSKA (1:1) in Round 7 of the Russian Premier League. The forward was shown a straight red card in the 56th minute following a clash with CSKA defender Moises, when referee Rafael Shafeev judged his actions to be rough play.
The referee’s decision sparked a heated reaction from the Krasnodar player. Córdoba was visibly furious and left the field only after lengthy arguments, which created a tense atmosphere on the pitch.
After the match, the forward sharply criticized refereeing in Russia and admitted that such incidents could push him to leave the club.
“I’m tired of injustice. A lot has happened in my four years in Russia, but today’s incident could be decisive. I love Krasnodar, but I can’t tolerate this anymore. If I have to leave — I will,” Córdoba said in an interview with Sport24.ru.
The striker also noted that the referee did not even consult the VAR system, although in his opinion the situation required a review:
“What’s the point of VAR if the referee doesn’t use it? Referees treat me however they want — they can whistle, they can suspend me for matches. It’s unfair.”
The Colombian’s future in Krasnodar now looks uncertain, with his remarks only fueling speculation about possible changes in his career.
