On May 27, the 2026 European Grappling Championships under the auspices of UWW came to an end at the Gazprom Armenia Sports Complex in Yerevan.
On the fourth day of the tournament, senior athletes — men and women — stepped onto the mat.
Representatives of 11 countries took part in the competition: Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Moldova, Italy, Spain, Greece, Georgia and Belarus.
Team Armenia was represented by a large squad, but managed to win only one medal among seniors at the home tournament. However, that medal was gold: Razmik Misakyan confidently won the men’s 58 kg weight category.
In the final, Misakyan defeated Spain’s Alejandro Reyes Rodriguez and became European champion. Four other Armenian athletes competed for bronze medals, but lost in the small finals.
In the men’s team standings, Russia took first place with six gold medals. Poland finished second, while Spain came third. Team Armenia finished fourth with 79 points.
Among women, Poland was the best team, winning two gold medals and scoring 89 points. Russia finished second with 88 points, while Italy came third. Team Armenia scored 13 points in the women’s standings and finished seventh.
