Henrikh Mkhitaryan visits Pyunik Academy and meets club’s young players

Today, June 19, a meeting with Henrikh Mkhitaryan — the greatest footballer in the history of Armenian football and a graduate of the Yerevan club — took place at Pyunik’s sports school.

The Inter Milan midfielder returned to his home club, where a special program was organized for him. The event was attended by Pyunik Academy players, club representatives, and members of the media.

As part of the meeting, a short film dedicated to Mkhitaryan’s career path was shown. It included archive footage of the player’s performances for clubs and the Armenian national team, as well as visual materials reflecting key stages of his career.

After the film screening, an open dialogue with the participants of the event was held. Henrikh Mkhitaryan spoke with young footballers and shared stories about his path in football, his career, and his experience of playing at the highest level.

A special part of the event was a ceremony honoring the memory of Hamlet Mkhitaryan — Henrikh’s father and one of the outstanding figures of Armenian football. Mkhitaryan, Pyunik representatives, and the participants observed a minute of silence in his memory.

In addition, near the “Tree of Glory,” which has become one of the symbols of Pyunik, Henrikh Mkhitaryan left the imprints of his hands and feet.

“Welcome home, Henrikh,” Pyunik wrote, greeting the return of its famous academy graduate.

It should be recalled that Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s great football journey began at Pyunik. He later played for Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal, Roma, and Inter, becoming one of the most decorated footballers in Armenian history.

After the event, a huge queue formed for Mkhitaryan’s autograph.
