Central forward Edgar Navassardian has signed a contract with Östersund until December 2027. The 20-year-old Armenian’s new team plays in the Superettan — the second-highest division in Sweden — and is based in the city of Östersund, located in the central part of the country.
Last season, Navassardian played for the second-division club Örebro Syrianska, where he became the team’s top scorer, netting 13 goals.
Edgar Navassardian is a product of the youth academies of Trelleborg and Malmö. During his career, he has already played in Sweden’s 4th and 3rd divisions, and now he will compete in the second-highest league.
Navassardian has already been scouted by Armenia’s U21 national team and is awaiting a call-up to the senior national team.
“Edgar is a very promising striker with huge potential, which we noticed this spring. He is tall, fast, has a great shot, and works hard for the team. He has all the qualities needed to take the next step with our team,” said Östersund’s sporting director Stefan Lundin.
“I’m here to contribute as many goals and points as possible for the team. I hope to put on a real show for the fans at the arena,” Edgar Navassardian said after signing the contract.
