The 2026 IWF Junior World Championships Have Started: Day 1 Results

On May 2, the 2026 IWF Junior World Championships in weightlifting for athletes under 20 began in Ismailia, Egypt. On the first day of the tournament, medals were contested in three weight categories: men’s 60 kg, and women’s 48 kg and 53 kg.

Representatives of China won all three “big” gold medals on the first day of competition. In total, Chinese weightlifters won 9 medals. Athletes from the Philippines, Thailand, Canada, Greece, and Vietnam also reached the podium.

On May 3, the Armenian national team’s first representative, Artush Grigoryan, will compete. He is entered in the men’s 65 kg weight category. The Armenian weightlifter’s start is scheduled for 20:00 Yerevan time.
