The national team of Azerbaijan will not take part in the U16 European Basketball Championship (Division C), which will be held from July 4 to 12, 2026, in Yerevan.
After the official tournament draw, the final list of participants has been confirmed, and Azerbaijan is absent from the teams approved for the competition. Thus, the tournament will be held without their participation.
According to the draw results, nine teams will take part in the championship, divided into two groups. Armenia will play in Group B alongside Andorra, Malta, Gibraltar, and Monaco.

The championship will be one of the key international basketball events of summer 2026 for Armenia, as it will take place on home court. Hosting the tournament in Yerevan highlights the country’s growing role in organizing international events under the auspices of FIBA Europe.
It is worth noting that in 2025, Armenia already hosted a larger-scale U20 European Championship in Division B, where Azerbaijan also did not participate.
Azerbaijan’s absence does not affect Armenia’s group position, but the finalized list of teams has cemented the tournament format and group stage structure.
Armenia’s youth national teams have learned their opponents for the 2026 European Championships.
