Armenia's Youth Basketball Teams Learn Opponents for 2026 European Championships

The draws for the 2026 European Youth Basketball Championships in various age categories have taken place, revealing the opponents for Armenia’s national teams. Armenian squads will participate in several tournaments across Divisions C and B, and one of the events will be hosted in Yerevan.

Men’s U16: Home Tournament in Yerevan
The Division C U16 European Championship draw took place in Freising, Germany. The tournament will run from July 4 to 12, 2026, in Yerevan and feature nine teams.

Armenia is in Group B with:

  • Gibraltar

  • Andorra

  • Malta

  • Monaco

Group A:

  • Kosovo

  • Albania

  • San Marino

  • Moldova

Hosting the event makes this one of the major highlights of the Armenian youth basketball summer. Azerbaijan was initially set to participate but withdrew due to the event being hosted in Yerevan.

Draw Fiba U16 C

Women’s U16: Tournament in Malta
Armenia's U16 women’s team will play in Division C. Matches will be held July 7–12, 2026, in Ta’ Qali, Malta.

Group B:

  • Albania

  • Moldova

  • Gibraltar

Draw U16 women C

Women’s U18: Matches in Kosovo
The Armenian U18 women’s team is also in Division C. The event will take place July 21–26, 2026, in Peja, Kosovo.

Group B:

  • Kosovo

  • Georgia

  • Gibraltar

Draw FIBA U18 Woman C

Men’s U18: Division C in Albania
The U18 men’s team will compete in Division C, July 21–26, in Shkodër, Albania.

Group A:

  • Kosovo

  • Andorra

  • Gibraltar

Draw U18 Fiba C

Men’s U20: Division B and Stronger Competition
The Armenian U20 men’s team will face stiffer competition in Division B. The matches are scheduled for July 10–19, 2026, in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Group C:

  • Iceland

  • Portugal

  • Kosovo

  • Bosnia & Herzegovina

  • Cyprus

Draw FIBA U20 B

This will be the most challenging tournament for Armenia’s youth squads in 2026.

The summer of 2026 promises to be intense for Armenian youth basketball, with representation across all key age groups and Yerevan hosting a European Championship, underlining Armenia’s growing status on the basketball map.
