American fighter of Armenian descent Isaac Dulgarian has been released from the UFC following a controversial defeat at UFC Vegas 110, where he lost to Yadier Del Valle in the first round. The news was reported by well-known insider Ariel Helwani.
Dulgarian was submitted via choke in the opening round, but the fight quickly became the subject of investigation and debate due to suspicious betting line movements before the bout. In the hours leading up to the event, betting odds shifted dramatically—from Dulgarian being the clear favorite to Del Valle becoming the unexpected frontrunner.
Several sportsbooks, including Caesars Sportsbook, decided to refund losing bets placed on Dulgarian after the fight, calling the situation “anomalous.”

According to Helwani, the official reason for the termination was “the result of the fight,” but sources say the UFC is concerned about potential violations of fair play principles.
During the broadcast, analyst and active fighter Michael Chiesa harshly criticized Dulgarian’s performance, calling it “senseless” and “alarming.” Experts noted that Dulgarian’s defense against the choke appeared unusually weak — he made almost no effort to resist, raising suspicions among viewers and bettors alike.
Known by his nickname “The Midwest Choppa,” Dulgarian leaves the UFC with a record of 2–2 in the promotion (7–2 overall). He was previously known for his aggressive fighting style and spectacular early finishes.
Now, the fight and its circumstances may be investigated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and UFC’s internal integrity unit, which have tightened their monitoring of betting activities following similar scandals in 2022.
