Legia and Armenia national team midfielder Vahan Bichakhchyan will definitely miss the remaining matches of the club season due to a quadriceps thigh injury.
Moreover, the 26-year-old footballer’s participation in Armenia’s June friendly matches against Kazakhstan and Moldova is also in doubt. Those games are scheduled for June 6 and 9.
Bichakhchyan sustained the injury on April 6 in a match against his former club, Pogoń Szczecin. Subsequent medical examinations showed that the injury was more serious than initially expected. The midfielder now faces a lengthy recovery period.
For Legia, Bichakhchyan’s absence is particularly unfortunate amid a tense end to the season. With three rounds remaining in the league, the Warsaw side sits in 9th place and finds itself in an unusual table situation: it still has a chance of qualifying for European competition, but at the same time has not yet guaranteed safety in the fight to avoid relegation.
Legia are 6 points away from the Conference League zone and only 4 points above the relegation zone.
