The 21-year-old Armenian defender Mark Gevorgyan is on trial with 1860 Munich, who will compete in the Regionalliga Bayern, the fourth tier of German football, next season. Mark’s twin brother, Mike Gevorgyan, previously played for the club.
The right wing-back spent last season with Hannover 96’s reserve team, which also competed in the Regionalliga. Gevorgyan spent a total of two years in the German club’s system.
The defender previously developed at the Salzburg academy. During his time with the Austrian club, he won the national under-18 championship three times and made two appearances in the UEFA Youth League.
At international level, Gevorgyan played five matches for Germany’s U17 national team. He later decided to represent Armenia and made one appearance for the Armenian U21 national team.
Despite his considerable experience at youth level and spells with the reserve teams of well-known clubs, Gevorgyan has yet to establish himself in a professional league. His trial at 1860 Munich could provide the defender with another opportunity to take the next step in his career.
