Artyom Avanesyan to Continue His Career at Gandzasar

Gandzasar Football Club has officially unveiled its first new signing ahead of the upcoming season. The squad has been strengthened by 27-year-old winger Artyom Avanesyan.

The three-time Armenian champion previously played for Pyunik, Noah and Ararat-Armenia, having started his professional career in the youth system of CSKA Moscow.

Avanesyan spent the last two seasons with Noah. During that period, he made 34 appearances, scored two goals and provided six assists. He also won the Armenian championship and lifted the Armenian Cup twice with the club.

Gandzasar will begin the new season with a revamped squad, a new kit and a new coaching staff. The team will be led by 39-year-old head coach Karen Avoyan.

Avoyan previously worked at West Armenia and Noah, as well as with Armenia’s U-16, U-18 and U-19 national teams. He later took charge of Saudi Arabian club Afif, where he was named the best coach in the country’s second-division championship.

Vardges Muradyan has also joined Gandzasar as an assistant coach, while Oleg Gorvits has been appointed goalkeeping coach. Vahe Harutyunyan will remain on the coaching staff as an assistant to the head coach.

Most of the team’s players departed during the off-season. However, Shunto Kanda, Patvakan Avetisyan, Bertrand Mani and Grigory Matevosyan have extended their contracts with the club.

At present, Artyom Avanesyan remains Gandzasar’s only officially announced new signing.
