Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan has won the ITF W100 tournament in Zagreb. In the final of the clay-court event, the 23-year-old confidently defeated Sweden’s Kajsa Rinaldo Persson.
Avanesyan, who is ranked 281st in the WTA rankings, gave her opponent no real chance and won in straight sets — 6-1, 6-3. Rinaldo Persson was ranked 240th in the world before the tournament.
For Elina, this title became the sixth ITF trophy of her career. The Armenian tennis player had last won a tournament at this level in 2023.
The victory in Zagreb is an important success for Avanesyan ahead of her appearance for the Armenian national team. Tomorrow, Elina will begin her campaign at the Billie Jean King Cup, where she will represent Armenia.
