Alina Charaeva reaches the WTA 250 Hamburg quarterfinals

Armenian tennis player Alina Charaeva, ranked world No. 117, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 tournament in Hamburg.

In the second round, the 24-year-old produced a comeback victory over Austria’s Sinja Kraus, who is ranked No. 80 in the world. The three-set match ended 5–7, 7–5, 7–5.

Charaeva will face Hungary’s Anna Bondar, the world No. 97, for a place in the semifinals.

Another Armenian representative, Elina Avanesyan, will play her round-of-16 match against Yulia Putintseva tomorrow.
