On May 30 and 31, Yerevan hosted the first-ever European MMA Championships under the auspices of UWW (United World Wrestling). The competitions were held among U20 athletes, as well as senior men and women.

Athletes from 10 countries competed in the Armenian capital: Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Georgia.

Team Russia confidently won all four team standings. Russian athletes claimed all four gold medals in the U20 women’s division, four gold medals out of seven among U20 men, four gold medals out of eight among senior women, and six gold medals out of nine among senior men.

Team Armenia did not win any gold medals at the home tournament, but Armenian athletes claimed a large number of medals of lower value.
