On October 16, the Unity EURO Cup 2025 concluded in the Netherlands — an international tournament organized by UEFA in cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The Armenian refugee team delivered an impressive performance, reaching the final, where they narrowly lost to Finland in a penalty shootout.
The Armenian side confidently advanced through the group stage and showed great determination in the knockout rounds. In the quarterfinals, Armenia defeated Northern Ireland 2–1, then overcame Ireland with the same score. In the semifinals, the team coached by the Armenian staff achieved a hard-fought 1–0 victory against Greece.
The final against Finland proved to be a real test. Both teams displayed strong discipline and commitment, but the regular time ended goalless — 0–0. The fate of the trophy was decided by penalties, where Finland came out on top.
Unity EURO Cup is more than a sporting competition — it is a symbol of unity and mutual understanding. The tournament demonstrates how football can inspire hope, bring together people from different nations and cultures, and open new paths for those who have been forced to leave their homeland.
