The friendly match between Armenia and Kazakhstan was memorable not only for its 1-1 draw, but also for several important statistical milestones for the national team players.
The main hero of the match was Eduard Spertsyan. The Armenia captain scored a beautiful long-range goal and saved his team from defeat. It was already Spertsyan’s 12th goal for the national team. The midfielder reached this mark in 41 appearances.
Thanks to his goal against Kazakhstan, Spertsyan moved clear into 4th place on the list of Armenia’s all-time top scorers. Previously, he had shared that position with Artur Petrosyan and Marcos Pizzelli.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan — 32
Yura Movsisyan — 14
Gevorg Ghazaryan — 14
Eduard Spertsyan — 12
It is also worth noting the milestone appearances of several other players. Georgiy Harutyunyan and Nair Tiknizyan both played their 30th matches for Armenia, while Grant-Leon Ranos made his 25th appearance.
Interestingly, all three began playing for the national team in 2023 under Oleksandr Petrakov. Since then, they have become important players for Armenia and are now among those the team can rely on in the coming years.
Another important moment was Karlen Hovhannisyan’s first start for the Armenian national team. The young midfielder got his chance due to the absence of the injured Ugochukwu Iwu and used it quite confidently.
Karlen covered his position well in midfield, rarely made mistakes and several times helped the team move attacks forward. Moreover, Hovhannisyan could have marked his first start with a goal, but in one of the episodes his shot went just wide of the post.
David Davidyan also returned to the national team. For him, it was his first appearance for Armenia since June 2024. Previously, Davidyan had more often been used in defense for the national team, but in the match against Kazakhstan he came on in a more attacking role for the first time.
