Spertsyan’s Stunning Goal and 20 Shots: Armenia Draws with Kazakhstan

The national teams of Armenia and Kazakhstan played to a 1:1 draw in a friendly match held in Yerevan on June 6.

After a goalless first half, Kazakhstan’s forward Maksim Samorodov opened the score in the 50th minute. However, just three minutes later, Armenia quickly equalized.

Armenia’s captain Eduard Spertsyan scored a beautiful long-range goal. The midfielder drove through the center of the pitch and powerfully shot into the bottom right corner. This goal became Spertsyan’s 12th for the national team.

Towards the end of the match, Armenia had several good chances to snatch the win, but they were unable to convert them. The team looked more active than the opponent and created more danger in front of the goal.

Statistically, Armenia registered 20 shots on goal, 5 of which were on target. Kazakhstan had 11 shots with 3 on target. Ball possession also favored Armenia — 57% to 43%. Corner kicks were another area of dominance: 14 to 2 in favor of Armenia.

This match, both in content and result, was better than the previous game against Belarus. It is hoped that progress will continue in the next meeting.

Armenia will play its next friendly on June 9 in Yerevan against Moldova.
