On June 3, Armenia U21 will play a friendly match against their Cypriot peers at the FFA Technical Center in Yerevan. Ahead of the game, the press service of the Football Federation of Armenia spoke with two players: well-known BKMA midfielder Misak Hakobyan and newcomer Mark Gevorgyan from German side Hannover.
Misak Hakobyan (BKMA):
“It’s much easier when the coach at the club and the national team is the same person. We clearly understand what he expects from us and try to follow through. There are many newcomers in the squad now, coming from different countries, but we have a great atmosphere. We've just met, but already feel like a team. I can speak German with Mark and his brother Mike, for example. We’re trying to help all our legionnaires adapt more easily and make sure they understand everything. We have a good chance of winning — we’re preparing seriously and focused solely on the result.”
Mark Gevorgyan (Hannover):
“My father introduced me to football — it was important to him, and I ended up enjoying it too. When I received the call-up to Armenia U21, they first contacted my dad. He asked me, ‘Do you really want to play for Armenia’s youth team?’ I answered without hesitation — yes. It’s a great joy for me. I feel like a part of the Armenian national team. There are no communication issues in the squad — some speak Armenian, others Russian or English, and we all find a common language.”
