The FIBA U20 European Championship Division B will begin on July 10 in Bratislava. Armenia’s youth national team will take part in the tournament and compete in Group C.
Armenia’s opponents in the group stage will be Kosovo, Portugal, Iceland, Cyprus, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina. The tournament will be held in the Slovak capital from July 10 to 19, with a total of 21 national teams competing in Division B.
Group C looks quite competitive. Kosovo finished 8th in Division B last year, Portugal ended the tournament in 10th place, while Armenia finished 16th. Iceland competed in Division A a year ago and placed 14th, after which they were relegated to the second-tier division. Cyprus and Bosnia did not participate in last year’s edition.

For Armenia, this tournament will be an opportunity to improve on last year’s result. In 2025, the FIBA U20 European Championship Division B was held in Yerevan. Armenia recorded one victory — against Estonia — and finished 16th among 21 participants. At the same time, the Armenian team was very close in games against Denmark and Austria, losing by just 1 and 2 points respectively.
It should be noted that the FIBA U16 European Championship Division C also begins today in Yerevan. As a result, July will be a busy month for Armenian basketball, with two Armenian youth national teams competing on the international stage.
