Former Armenia national team head coach Vardan Minasyan has been appointed head coach of Beirut-based Nejmeh. The Lebanese club officially announced the arrival of the 52-year-old Armenian specialist.
Minasyan replaces Tunisian coach Lassaad Dridi, who left the team for family reasons. The length of the Armenian coach’s contract has not been disclosed.
Minasyan’s most recent club was Ararat-Armenia, which he left in May 2025. He coached the Armenia national team from 2009 to 2013 before returning for a second spell in 2018. Under his leadership, Armenia finished third in their UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying group.
Introducing their new head coach, Nejmeh highlighted his UEFA Pro Licence and achievements at club level. Minasyan has won five Armenian league titles: three with Pyunik and two with Ararat-Armenia. In 2019, he also guided Ararat-Armenia to the UEFA Europa League qualifying play-offs.
Minasyan takes charge early in the new season. Nejmeh have collected four points from the opening two rounds of the Lebanese league. The Beirut club finished as league runners-up last season and also competed in the AFC Challenge League, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
