Armenia Start Davis Cup Campaign with Victory

The Armenian tennis team made a successful start to its Davis Cup campaign in Europe Zone Group IV. In its opening match of the tournament, which is taking place in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia confidently defeated Andorra 3-0.
In the first singles match, 18-year-old Davit Poghosyan beat Pablo Carrascosa 6-1, 6-2. Then 18-year-old Mikael Avanesyan strengthened Armenia’s advantage by defeating Eric Cervos Noguer in straight sets — 6-3, 7-5.
In the doubles match, 18-year-olds Samvel Aghayan and Avetik Ghazaryan also secured a win. The Armenian duo proved stronger than the pair of Pablo Carrascosa and Eric Cervos Noguer, winning 6-2, 6-4.
As a result, Armenia began the tournament with a perfect 3-0 victory.
The Armenian team will play its next match on June 17 against San Marino. In the opening round, San Marino lost 0-3 to Iceland.
The Davis Cup Europe Zone Group IV matches are being held in Tsaghkadzor from June 16 to 20.
