Armenia announce Nations League squad: Gharibyan earns first call-up, Terteryan returns

Armenia head coach Yeghishe Melikyan has announced the list of players called up for the upcoming matches in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. A total of 29 players have been included in the national team's squad.

Armenia compete in Group C2, where they will face Latvia, Montenegro and Cyprus. During the upcoming international window, Melikyan's team will play four matches — two at home and two away.

Gharibyan receives first senior Armenia call-up

One of the main changes in the squad is the first senior national team call-up for 20-year-old forward Artur Gharibyan . The striker previously represented Armenia at youth level and has made a successful start to the current Russian Premier League season with Moscow-based Rodina.

Gharibyan has scored two goals and provided one assist in five RPL appearances. He produced his standout performance away against Zenit, scoring twice to help Rodina claim a 2-1 victory.

Right-back David Terteryan has also returned to the national team after a lengthy absence. His call-up is particularly important following the injury to Kamo Hovhannisyan. Terteryan has not played for Armenia's senior national team since 2022.

Eight players to miss the camp through injury

Several players who have regularly been called up to the Armenia squad will be unable to help the team due to injuries.

The following players will not join the national team camp:

• Hovhannes Harutyunyan
• Henri Avagyan
• Norberto Briasco Balekian

As a result, the coaching staff have been forced to make significant changes to the squad, particularly in attack and in the full-back positions.

Armenia's match schedule

Armenia will play their first match of the new Nations League campaign against Latvia on September 25. The game will kick off at 20:00 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. Three days later, on September 28, Armenia will host Montenegro at the same venue.

The national team will then play two away matches:

• September 25: Armenia vs Latvia
• September 28: Armenia vs Montenegro
• October 2: Cyprus vs Armenia
• October 5: Montenegro vs Armenia

Melikyan's team will conclude the group stage in November, hosting Cyprus on November 12 before facing Latvia away on November 15.
