On November 1, Armenian freestyle wrestler Narek Harutyunyan concluded his campaign at the 2026 World Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, without winning a medal in the men's 74 kg weight category.
In the repechage, Harutyunyan first defeated Poland's Kamil Rybicki, keeping his hopes of winning a bronze medal alive.
However, in his next bout, the Armenian wrestler suffered a 2–15 defeat to American James Green. The match ended early after 5 minutes and 16 seconds due to his opponent's technical superiority.
As a result, Armenia finished the 2026 World Freestyle Wrestling Championships with just one medal. Vazgen Tevanyan claimed the team's only medal, winning silver in the 65 kg category. In the final, the Armenian wrestler lost 1–9 to American Bo Bassett.
For comparison, Armenian freestyle wrestlers also won just one medal at the 2025 World Championships, when Arsen Harutyunyan claimed bronze.
