The ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun will take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 1 to 14, 2026. Armenia will be represented by three athletes: Elmira Karapetyan, Gevorg Melkonyan, and Artyom Grigoryan.
The Armenian national team will be led by head coach Seyran Nikoghosyan.
The World Championships in Doha will mark the first stage of qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. According to the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), a total of 36 Olympic quota places will be awarded at the tournament, with three places available in each of the 12 individual Olympic events.
This will give Armenian shooters their first opportunity to secure Olympic quota places for their country ahead of the 2028 Games. Qualification places are allocated to National Olympic Committees rather than directly to individual athletes.
The World Championships program includes 10m air rifle, 50m rifle three positions, 10m air pistol, men's 25m rapid fire pistol, and women's 25m pistol events.
In shotgun shooting, medals will be awarded in skeet and trap. In addition to individual competitions, the program includes mixed team events in air rifle, air pistol, and trap. Non-Olympic team events are also scheduled.
The championships will crown new world champions, while results in the Olympic disciplines will determine the allocation of the first qualification places for the Los Angeles Games. The qualification process will continue at international competitions, including World Cup events and continental championships.
