An unusual situation arose before the upcoming Matchday 5 fixture of the UEFA Europa Conference League between Yerevan’s Noaհ and Warsaw’s Legia, involving attempts to buy tickets for the home sector of the Armenian club.
According to Davit Vahradyan, head of the Ararat-Armenia (“Alpha”) fan club, he received a call from acquaintances in Poland who tried to purchase several hundred tickets through Armenian supporters for Legia fans for the match scheduled for December 11 at the Republican Stadium in Yerevan.
“I received a call from close people in Poland who wanted to buy several hundred tickets through us for Polish fans for the Noa–Legia match in the Conference League. This absolutely does not fit into my worldview or that of the fan club. I strongly refuse to participate in this and urge others not to do such things. No matter how much we are rivals in Armenia, this is unacceptable,” Vahradyan said.
Thus, Polish fans attempted to gain access to Noaհ’s home stand for an away match, which contradicts established safety norms and international rules regarding the separation of fan sectors.
The match is crucial for both clubs. After four rounds, Noaհ sits in 23rd place in the league stage of the Conference League with 5 points, while Legia is 28th with 3 points.
The result of the upcoming encounter will determine whether either team can continue the fight for a playoff spot.
It is worth noting that Armenia national team midfielder Vahan Bichakhchyan plays for Legia, adding extra intrigue to the upcoming clash.
UPDATE: Statement from FC Noah:
DISCLAIMER: Away supporters will be banned from entering the home sectors
Purchased tickets will not be refunded
For this reason, we kindly ask away supporters to refrain from purchasing tickets on the secondary market
