Armenian defender Nair Tiknizyan has won the Serbian Cup with Crvena Zvezda. In the final, the Belgrade club defeated Vojvodina in a penalty shootout and claimed its second trophy of the season.
Regular time ended in a 2-2 draw. The final was far from easy for Crvena Zvezda: after the first half, the Serbian champions were trailing 2-0 and were close to defeat.
Crvena Zvezda’s comeback began with Nair Tiknizyan directly involved. The Armenian footballer provided an assist for Marko Arnautovic, who reduced the deficit and brought the Belgrade side back into the game.
The match was saved in stoppage time. In the 97th minute, Rodrigo scored the equalizer and sent the game to penalties. In the shootout, Crvena Zvezda proved stronger, winning 5-4.
For Tiknizyan, this is already his second trophy with the Serbian club. Earlier, Crvena Zvezda secured the Serbian league title ahead of schedule, and now the team has added the national cup to its championship triumph.
As a result, Crvena Zvezda finishes the season with a domestic double. The club still has two Serbian league matches left to play, but the main objectives of the season have already been achieved.
