Armenia squad for the U20 European Wrestling Championships in Skopje

Armenia’s squad for the U20 European Wrestling Championships has been announced. The tournament will take place in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

The Armenian men’s team will compete with a full squad of 20 athletes: 10 wrestlers in freestyle and 10 in Greco-Roman wrestling. In addition, Armenia will be represented by one athlete in women’s wrestling.

Serineh Diana Crane, a wrestler of Armenian origin from the United States, will make her debut for the Armenian national team. She will represent Armenia in the women’s 50 kg weight category. n is known for her performances at the California state wrestling championship and has also won international tournaments in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

At last year’s U20 European Championships, Armenia finished fourth in the team standings in freestyle wrestling, winning two medals — one gold and one bronze. Sargis Begoyan became champion in the 61 kg weight category, but he will not compete at this year’s tournament. The bronze medal was won by Razmik Yepremyan in the 86 kg category, and he has once again been included in Armenia’s squad this year.

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Armenia also won two medals last year — silver and bronze — and finished fifth in the team standings. Gaspar Terteryan claimed silver in the 72 kg weight category, while his brother Samvel Terteryan won bronze at 77 kg. This year, only Samvel will compete at the U20 European Championships, as Gaspar is already part of Armenia’s senior national team.

Armenia was not represented in women’s wrestling at last year’s tournament.
