Yerevan Mayor awards medalists of 2026 European Championships and World Cup events

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan met with athletes and national team coaches who achieved success at the 2026 European Championships and World Cup stages.

Representatives of wrestling, artistic gymnastics and weightlifting attended the award ceremony. Cash prizes were given to athletes who finished first, second and third at international tournaments, as well as to their coaches.

Gold medalists from Yerevan received 1 million drams each. Medalists were awarded prizes of 600,000 and 500,000 drams. Coaches also received 1 million drams each.

In addition, gymnasts who competed at World Cup stages received 600,000 drams each.

Avinyan congratulated the athletes on their successful performances and noted that their victories were the result of hard work and dedication to Armenian sport.

“Your success and sporting achievements were expected, because your great dedication to Armenian sport could lead to nothing but victories. I wish that your resilience and enthusiasm never fade and continue to contribute to new championship wins,” the Yerevan Mayor said.

Avinyan also emphasized that Yerevan Municipality will continue to support athletes on their path to new achievements.

European champions Malkhas Amoyan in Greco-Roman wrestling, Varazdat Lalayan in weightlifting, Garik Karapetyan in weightlifting, Emma Poghosyan in weightlifting, as well as head coaches, received 1 million drams each.
