Canada claimed a historic victory at the FIFA World Cup, defeating Qatar 6-0 in the second round of the group stage.

It was Canada’s first-ever win in World Cup history. The main hero of the match was Jonathan David, who scored a hat-trick. He became the first player since England’s Geoff Hurst in the 1966 final to score a World Cup hat-trick on home soil.

Canada were the better side from the opening minutes and controlled the game with confidence. Qatar finished the match with nine players after two red cards, but Canada had already taken the lead before their opponents were reduced in numbers.

However, Canada’s historic victory was overshadowed by a serious injury to midfielder Ismael Kone. He was forced to leave the pitch early in the second half after suffering a severe-looking leg injury.

In the other match in Group B, Switzerland defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1. For a long time, it looked as if the game would end in a goalless draw, but after the 75th minute the teams scored five goals between them.

Johan Manzambi scored twice for Switzerland, while Ruben Vargas registered a goal and an assist. Bosnia and Herzegovina also finished the match with ten players after Muharemovic was sent off.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s only goal was scored by Ermin Mahmic with a spectacular volley, but the win belonged to Switzerland, who earned an important three points.

After two rounds, Canada and Switzerland lead Group B with four points each. They will face each other in the final round, while Bosnia and Herzegovina will play against Qatar.
