Canada star Ismael Kone suffers horror injury in World Cup match against Qatar

Canada national team midfielder Ismael Kone suffered a serious injury in the World Cup match against Qatar.
The incident happened in the 51st minute, with Canada leading 3-0. Qatar were already down to ten men at that point, and after the challenge on Kone, Assim Madibo was also shown a red card. As a result, Qatar were reduced to nine players.
After the heavy challenge, Kone went down on the pitch, and the reaction of the players around him immediately showed how serious the situation was. Players had their heads in their hands, while the stadium fell silent.
According to preliminary information, the Canada midfielder has suffered a broken leg. For one of the leaders of the national team, the World Cup is effectively over.
The injury could prove extremely serious and may require a long recovery period. Kone could miss a significant part of next season, and in the worst-case scenario, around a year of his career.
For Canada, this is a major blow despite their commanding advantage in the match against Qatar. Kone was one of the team’s key players and an important figure in midfield.
