22-year-old American Ben Shelton (ATP No. 7) claimed his first-ever Masters title by defeating 29-year-old Karen Khachanov (ATP No. 13) in a thrilling final in Toronto — 6:7(5), 6:4, 7:6(7:3).
The match was extremely tight: both players won a tiebreak each, and the deciding set also ended in a tiebreak. Shelton showed a dominant serve, firing 16 aces compared to Khachanov's 3, though he also committed 6 double faults, while the Russian had just 2.
