Gor Karapetyan Finishes Seventh at Budapest Judo Grand Slam

Armenian judoka Gor Karapetyan finished seventh in the men's 100 kg category at the Budapest Judo Grand Slam.
The 20-year-old Armenian competed in four bouts during the tournament. Karapetyan started his campaign with two victories, defeating opponents representing North Macedonia and Serbia.
In the quarterfinals, the Armenian judoka lost to a representative of Portugal and moved into the repechage round. There, Karapetyan was defeated by an athlete from Bulgaria, ending the competition in seventh place.
The other representatives of the Armenian national team were eliminated in their opening bouts. Vahe Aghasyan (60 kg), Ashik Andreasyan (60 kg) and Artak Torosyan (73 kg) all ended their campaigns after first-round defeats.
Meanwhile, Armenian-born judoka Narek Vardanyan, who represents Sweden, won a medal at the tournament. The 18-year-old claimed silver in the 73 kg category. It was Vardanyan's first career medal at a Grand Slam event.
