The promising 17-year-old forward Finn Geragusian continues to make strides in Sunderland’s U21 squad. In a recent Premier League Cup match against Wolverhampton, he scored a brace, securing an important point for his team in a tense encounter.
Following the match, Sunderland’s official website published an interview with the player and his coach.
The head coach of the youth squad, Graeme Murty, entrusted Geragusian with a place in the starting lineup, and the young striker lived up to expectations by scoring his first goals for the U21s.
"I’m incredibly happy not only to start but also to score twice," Geragusian admitted. "It was a tough test against a strong opponent, but I enjoyed the challenge. Both goals were possible thanks to the great assists from Ben Middlemas and Jaydon Jones – I just had to be in the right place."
Geragusian first caught attention at the age of 15 when he made his debut for the U18s in the FA Youth Cup. Now, he continues his development, having signed a scholarship contract with the club and earning a call-up to Armenia’s U19 national team.
"I’m very pleased with my progress over the past two years," the striker said. "It was an obvious decision for me to continue my journey here. I’m grateful to the coaches for their trust. I know there’s still a long way to go, but I will keep working hard to earn more opportunities."
Standing at 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm), Geragusian is a dangerous forward in aerial duels. The young player continues to improve his form and hopes to establish himself in Sunderland’s U21 squad, aiming for a chance to showcase his talent at a higher level in the future.
