U20 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championships 2026: Day 3 Recap and Full Results
Wrestling

Four more sets of medals were awarded on the third day of the 2026 U20 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championships in Bratislava, in the 55 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg and 97 kg weight categories.

With competition completed in eight weight categories, Armenia has won four medals — one gold, one silver and two bronze. In the team standings, Armenia is in second place, behind only Russia.

On August 18, Yurik Mkhitaryan (67 kg) and Erik Ter-Matevosyan (97 kg) won bronze medals.

Gor Khachatryan (72 kg) also came very close to a medal. In the bronze-medal bout, the Armenian wrestler finished his match against Uzbekistan’s Behruzbek Valiyev at 7:7, but the victory went to his opponent on criteria.

Armenia’s four medals equal the team’s result from the previous U20 World Championships. The Armenian team can still improve on that tally: on August 19, Marat Atchemyan (60 kg) will continue his bid for a bronze medal through the repechage.

Wrestlers representing Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine became world champions on the third day of competition.
