2026 European Taekwondo Championships: full results, medalists and Armenia’s performance

The 2026 European Taekwondo Championships concluded on May 14 in Munich. The tournament was held from May 11 to 14 in Germany at BMW Park München and became one of the last major events before the start of the Olympic qualification cycle, which begins on June 1, 2026.
Armenia was represented by three athletes. Unfortunately, the Armenian taekwondo athletes were unable to win a bout at the tournament.
Armenia’s results
Alex Melikyan competed in the men’s under 54 kg weight category. In his opening bout, he lost to a representative of Croatia with a score of 1:2.
Sargis Muradyan competed in the under 63 kg category and also ended his campaign after the first bout, losing to a Croatian athlete with a score of 1:2.
Armen Danielyan competed in the under 74 kg weight category. In his opening bout, he lost to a representative of Italy with a score of 0:2.
At the same time, none of the opponents of the Armenian athletes managed to advance past the next round, so the Armenian representatives did not get a chance to return to the competition through repechage bouts.

Turkey became the top team of the tournament, winning 8 medals, including 3 golds. Belarus finished second, also with 3 gold medals. Hungary, Spain and Great Britain also made it into the top five.

Armenia finished the tournament without medals
For the Armenian national team, the European Championships in Munich turned out to be unsuccessful. All three athletes ended their campaigns after their opening bouts, while the team remained without wins or medals.
The next important stage for Armenian taekwondo athletes will be the Olympic qualification cycle. It starts on June 1, 2026, and that is where the fight for ranking points and Olympic qualification spots will come to the forefront.
