Bruno Wilson receives first Mozambique national team call-up

Ararat-Armenia defender Bruno Wilson has received his first call-up to the Mozambique national team.

The 29-year-old was naturalized back in 2024 but has yet to make an appearance for the African side. Wilson will now have the opportunity to make his official debut for Mozambique.

The defender has Mozambican roots. His grandfather, Mario Wilson, was a former footballer who was born in Mozambique and moved to Portugal in 1949. He later played and worked as a coach in Portuguese football.

Bruno joined the Armenian team this summer from the MLS club San Jose and immediately became a key player in Manuel Tulipa's squad. Wilson helped the team reach the main stage of the Europa League and scored the Armenian club's first goal in the competition's main phase.

Along with Bruno Wilson, Pyunik forward Witi has returned to the Mozambique national team. The 29-year-old already has significant international experience, having made 45 appearances for his country.

As a result, two players from the Armenian Premier League have been included in Mozambique’s squad for the upcoming matches.

Two more players from Armenian clubs have also been called up by African national teams for the upcoming international break. Ararat goalkeeper Adel Anzimati-Aboudou has been called up by Comoros, while Alashkert goalkeeper Ibrahim Sesay has received an invitation from the Sierra Leone national team.

During the upcoming international window, African national teams will begin their campaigns in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
