Styopa Mkrtchyan returns to training early at Nürnberg

Armenia national team defender Styopa Mkrtchyan has started preparing for the new season earlier than the rest of Nürnberg’s players.

The Armenian footballer had been recovering from an injury while with the Armenia national team, and on June 22 he returned to Germany and began individual training at the German club’s training base. Nürnberg’s full pre-season camp is set to start only on June 29.

In fact, Mkrtchyan was left without a proper summer break, but this helped him speed up his recovery and return to work ahead of schedule. Nürnberg’s official website reported the early return of the Armenian defender with enthusiasm.

As a result, Styopa will be able to complete a full pre-season preparation with the team and should be ready for the start of the new 2. Bundesliga season.

Mkrtchyan joined Nürnberg in the winter of 2026 from Croatian club Osijek. The Armenia national team defender will look to establish himself in the German club’s squad in the new season.
