Armenian National Swimming Team Heads to Paris for European Championships

On August 8, Armenia’s senior national swimming team will travel to France to compete at the 2026 European Aquatics Championships. The national team will be represented in Paris by a six-member delegation.
The Armenian delegation includes Armenian Swimming Federation President Hovsep Mesropyan, national team head coach Armen Vaganyan, and four athletes.
In the individual events, the Armenian swimmers will compete in the following disciplines:
Varsenik Manucharyan — 50m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly.
Milania Gunko — 50m and 100m freestyle. (Milania Gunko is the daughter of coach Dmitry Gunko.)
Ashot Chakhoyan — 50m and 100m breaststroke.
Gevorg Tonoyan — 50m and 100m backstroke.
In addition to the individual events, the Armenian swimmers will also compete in relay events. Team Armenia is entered in the 4×100m freestyle relay, 4×200m freestyle relay, and 4×100m medley relay.
Competing at a major international tournament will provide the Armenian swimmers with another opportunity to test themselves against some of Europe’s strongest athletes, demonstrate their level of preparation, and proudly represent Armenia on the international stage.
